 The Basic Elements of Fashion Design

 -Shape or Silhouette

 This is used to describe the outline of the whole garment. Silhouette is viewed from a distance            and is therefore garment. A silhouette should be related to the body structure, but some various 

 -Line 

 Line refers to the direction of visual interest in a garment. Lines are very important as you may         have to cut fabric before sewing even when using a pattern. 

  -Color 

 Color is the first element that viewers respond to because it adds excitement, Mood and emotion         to a design.  

          Color has three dimensions:

          1. Hue is the name of the color, For example a pink coat.

          2. Value is how light or dark the color is.

          3. Intensity is how bright or dull the color is.

  -Texture

 Texture is how something feels or looks like it would feel when touched. Texture is how the material feels and the quality of the material.
